Like most people who are faced with a diagnosis of cancer in either themselves or a loved one we reacted with shock and disbelief.  On one level it explained all of the strange behaviour of the previous 6 weeks, the sensitivity and disinterest in food and the pain while eating.  I hoped that we could control her pain so she could stay with us through my favourite month of May.  Unfortunately we missed on both counts.  The day after the 'official' diagnosis we had to say our goodbyes, her pain was not responding to the injections they gave us and we couldn't let our beloved girl suffer.

Since then I have been reading more about osteosarcoma....
